Scope

This policy applies to maybebetter.jp and its subdomains, as well as the email subscription service provided through the site.

The email subscription service is currently under development. The provisions of this policy concerning subscriptions apply from the date that service goes live.

Personal data collected

• When you subscribe to email notifications: your email address and the preferences you provide, such as immigration office, application month, and display language.
• When you visit the website: standard technical information such as IP address and browser type may be processed through server logs by our hosting and CDN provider to keep the site running securely and reliably.
• Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics (provided by Cloudflare, Inc.) for anonymous, cookie-free page view counts. Your browser sends the URL of the page you visit, the referrer, and browser information to Cloudflare. This is used solely to understand site traffic; it does not identify individuals or track you across sites.

How and why your data is used

• Your email address is used to send the notifications you subscribed to, and notices about related services operated by maybebetter™. The legal basis for this processing is your consent: when you subscribe, you receive a confirmation email, and your subscription only becomes active after you click the confirmation link. That click serves as your record of consent.
• Server log data is used solely to ensure the secure and stable operation of the website.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not share your email address with any third party for advertising.
• We do not currently use tracking cookies or behavioral analytics tools. If we introduce any in future, we will update this policy first and obtain your consent where required by law.

Data recipients

The website is hosted on Cloudflare. When the email subscription service goes live, delivery will be handled by an email service provider, whose name will be published on this page at that time. These providers process data only under our instructions; their servers may be located outside Japan, mainly in the United States. Information about the data protection rules of those countries is available upon request. Beyond these providers, data is disclosed to third parties only when required by law.

Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, your email address is removed from the mailing list. A suppression record may be kept solely to ensure you do not receive further emails.

Your rights

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
• Access, correct, delete, or stop the use of your data by emailing us at the address above. No formal procedure is required.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in features or legal requirements. The latest version will always be available on this page. If we make significant changes, we will notify active subscribers by email.
